How this NDIS consultant posts on social media

Natalie Hewitt runs Practical Clinical Governance, working with NDIS providers. She had an assistant overseas managing her social media and it was not working — the content did not understand the sector, and fixing it cost her more time than doing it herself.

The business

A consultancy where credibility is the product

Natalie advises NDIS, aged care and healthcare providers on clinical governance — accreditation, audits, risk, and the systems that have to work after the policy document is written.

That is exactly where outsourced social media falls over. In her words: “it’s better content, it’s not written by someone overseas who doesn’t necessarily understand the sector.”

I never thought I would say this, but I actually enjoy doing social media now!

In her words

Natalie on what changed

About a minute, unscripted.

Before I started using Magic Marketer, I genuinely hated doing social media. It always felt like another job on my already very long to-do list, and I previously even had an assistant helping me manage it.

I remember one time I had to edit two posts that one of them had made and it took me three hours and I thought, why have I got someone doing this for me when I have to edit for three hours just for two posts?

What I particularly love is that the posts still sound like me. I can share my own experiences, knowledge and stories without spending hours trying to work out what to write or how to say it.

The workflow

How a week of posting actually runs

Drawn from what Natalie described — the work moved from writing and fixing to reviewing.

1

Set the sector and the angle once

Natalie posts “about NDIS providers and how I can help them”. Because that context lives in the tool, every draft starts inside her sector rather than being briefed into it.

2

Ten minutes in the morning

“You can just check each one in the morning of whatever day you’ve set it to post and it’s 10 minutes at the most, 15 minutes just to review and make minor changes if you need to.”

3

Facebook and LinkedIn first, Instagram sometimes

“I use Magic Marketer on Facebook and LinkedIn primarily, occasionally Instagram.” Each gets the format that suits it.

4

Keep the humour, keep the facts

“I like to write posts about things that are engaging and funny. I think humour is important and also factual and interesting is what I like to post.” The voice settings are what hold that line.
