How this personal stylist posts on social media

Steph Vaughan runs Infinite Styling. She posts to Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook — and, like most people running a business on their own, kept falling behind because thinking of what to post was the hard part.

The business

A styling business where the owner is the brand

Personal styling is a trust business. People choose a stylist because of how that stylist thinks about clothes, bodies and confidence — which means the social media cannot be generic, and it cannot be outsourced to someone who has never met a client.

That is also what makes posting relentless. Every post has to sound like Steph, and Steph is the one doing the styling.

She works with women in their 40s and beyond — wardrobe edits, personal shopping, and a 90-day styling immersion called The Visible Woman Experience.

Content ideas are really half the battle.

In her words

Steph on what changed

About a minute, unscripted.

I am constantly having to create posts and stories for Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook and to be able to go to Magic Marketer and just to bring up some content ideas is such a time saver.

A lot of people I know, including myself, fall behind and don’t do it as regularly because content ideas are really half the battle, so having prompts within Magic Marketer makes it so much easier.

Basically anybody who owns a business or is time poor, this is perfect for them.

The workflow

How a week of posting actually runs

Drawn from what Steph described — the ideas come first, the making is the easy part.

1

Open it for the ideas, not the blank page

The starting point is a list of things worth posting about, rather than an empty editor. This is the step Steph names as the one that was stopping her.

2

Take what fits, change what doesn’t

“I can create whatever I like” — the drafts are a starting point she edits, not something she has to accept as written.

3

Posts and stories, across three channels

Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook each get the format that suits them, built from the same idea rather than resized from one file.

4

Keep the brain space for the styling

Steph’s own summary: “it just saves time and a lot of brain space”. The point is not that posting becomes free, it is that it stops occupying the whole week.
